Information for Parents

ATTENTION:
PARENTS AND SPONSORS OF CHILDREN ATTENDING THE CLASS
FOR FIVE- AND SIX-YEAR-OLDS

Permission and Release Form

• We will need to have one adult for each three children; so you will need to volunteer to help for at least one day.  Please come with your child to speak directly with us on his or her first day.  We will meet at this time directly in front of the cook trailer.  Classes will be held at the Burleson camp, and after this first meeting, you may drop off and pick up your children at the Burleson camp.
  
  
• Please protect your child from over-exposure to the sun with appropriate clothing and pre-applied sunscreen.  Insect repellent may also be appropriate.  We will not provide these things.
  
  
• Your child will need to wear sturdy shoes for adventure hikes, explorations and pretend site surveys.  He or she may also benefit from wearing light- weight jeans or long pants as we will probably take frequent hikes in the nature park across the road from camp and on one day will visit the excavation.
  
  
• Please send a beach towel with your child to be used as a pad for sitting or napping during rest periods.
  
  
• Please send snacks and a drink for your child. There are usually several choices in the breakfast line (fruit and breakfast bars) for this purpose.  We will also have lemonade and some light snacks on site.
  
  
• We would like to take some field trips (by automobile) away from camp and will let you know before this happens as you will need to give us written permission, provide a car safety seat and possibly transportation.
  
  
• You must pick up your child on time.  From 7am to 1pm is a long time for both workers and children.  Our adult workers are not babysitters, and it is not fair to them to leave your child past pick-up time.  Pick-up time is 1:15 pm; so please make arrangements to be there on time.
  
  
• We’re excited about working with your child and look forward, with your cooperation, to a great experience for all.
