How To Start a New Archeological Society

The Texas Archeological Society is joined in its mission to promote the study, preservation, and awareness of Texas archeology by a number of smaller local and regional societies.  These groups help to reach out to individuals in their areas who are interested in archeology and may wish to meet more often than can be accommodated by the TAS and its activities.  The size of our state being what it is, many parts of it are not covered by local societies.  If there is sufficient interest in a region, there may be a desire to establish an archeological society that is locally accessible.  These web pages offer a blueprint for starting a society and provide accompanying documents from extant local societies as examples of application forms, bylaws, a legal release, and an ethics statement.
