Resolutions for 91st (Virtual) Annual TAS Meeting

24-30 October 2020

WHEREAS: The Texas Archeological Society is convened in its 91st (Virtual) Annual Meeting, a "virtual meeting"; due to concerns brought on by the global Covid-19 pandemic; and,

WHEREAS: Our planned host the Houston Archeological Society will wait in the wings a year until 2021 and plan instead to host the 92nd Annual Meeting; and,

WHEREAS: The (Virtual) Meeting on-line has been deftly organized and orchestrated by Jamie Ross; and,

WHEREAS: The Houston Archeological Society under the leadership of Linda Gorski and Larry Golden organized an on-line e-Bay auction in lieu of a traditional Silent Auction to raise cash that will help the TAS fulfill its mission; and,

WHEREAS: The field school planned for Kerrville was postponed until 2021 when our host the Hill Country Archeological Association guided by the Field School Committee under Chair Tiffany Osburn and Principal Investigator Eric Oksanen promise exciting excavations in a wonderful setting; and,

WHEREAS: The Texas Archeology Academy Committee led by Jimmy Barrera canceled two of the academies planned for 2020 but have craftily planned three virtual academies in 2021 on Ceramics, Archeobotany and Archeology 101; and,

WHEREAS: Bulletin Editor Tim Perttula is producing another excellent Bulletin for the education and enjoyment of our members, and Newsletter Editor Elizabeth Coon-Nguyen has kept us informed of
current Society events and news while Administrative Director Lea Sanchez has kept the TAS office running smoothly; and,

WHEREAS: TAS president James Everett with the assistance of all the officers, directors and committees has led us through a most difficult year due to the Covid-19 pandemic that left the Society with an historic deficit brought on by cancellation of almost all in-person events for the year;

now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED the TAS extend its heartfelt thanks and
appreciation to all of these generous people and  organizations for their hard work that has made our 91st (Virtual) Annual Meeting a successful event.
